Caitlyn Jenner made her debut on the cover of Vanity Fair a few weeks back, which now leads to her E! reality TV show, debuting July 26th.
The reveal captivated the internet in a way that even Kim Kardashian could only imagine – Caitlyn became the fastest person ever to reach a million Twitter followers, while Vanity Fair claim that their website drew 9 million unique visitors on the day the cover story went live.
It appears that Jenner has set yet another record – her upcoming reality series I Am Cait, which will air in the US on E! and which chronicles her transition to womanhood, reportedly fetched the biggest paycheck that the network has ever handed out to an individual.
Per reports in the New York Post, Jenner was paid $5 million for the series. That’s $6.4 million in Australian dollars. However you come at it, it’s an absolute bloody shitload of money, especially considering that she was originally offered much less.
An inside source (gotta love them) said that at one point, talks broke down because the network did not want to pay more than $2 million. “Caitlyn’s agent then began informal talks with other networks, and E! quickly came back to the table, ready to pay $5 million.”
You can see a trailer for the series, which debuts on July 26, below:
